After three years of focused development, the Armstrong Carbon Mast Range has been redefined to meet the demands of modern foiling. The result is a lineup built with purpose: three carbon masts, each designed for all riders and levels.
Compare Carbon Mk II, Performance Mk II, and Performance-X to find the right mast for your foiling style.

- Carbon Mk II – The perfect entry point to carbon masts.
- Performance Mk II – Our stiffest mast and ultimate all-rounder.
- Performance-X – Maximum efficiency and glide.
Together, they form a complete system, one that supports progression from your first session through to high-performance riding.

Carbon Mk II
Confidence, built in
The Carbon Mk II is the foundation of the range. Designed as the most accessible carbon mast in the lineup, it offers a stable, predictable ride that builds confidence from the very first session.
With a 15.8 mm section, the Carbon Mk II prioritises control and forgiveness. The slightly thicker profile increases stability through takeoff, touchdowns, and lower-speed riding, making it the ideal step up from alloy or an entry point into carbon.
But this isn’t just a beginner mast. It’s been re-engineered with a refined profile and improved carbon layup to deliver dependable stiffness and smooth feedback across a wide range of conditions.
Why it matters on the water:
- Stable and predictable underfoot
- Smooth, forgiving ride feel
- Earlier lift and easy takeoffs
- Confidence across all disciplines
Best for:
Beginner-to-Intermediate riders stepping into carbon, building fundamentals, or looking for a reliable everyday mast.

Performance Mk II
Pure performance. Direct control.
At the heart of the range sits the Performance Mk II, the mast designed to do it all.
Developed through three years of continuous structural optimisation and on-water testing, it sets a new benchmark for stiffness and control. With 30% more bending stiffness and 20% more torsional stiffness compared to its predecessor, it delivers immediate, precise feedback in every condition.
A refined section and 13.8 mm profile reduce drag while maintaining the structural integrity needed for high-speed riding, powered turns or riding like Cash.
Why it matters on the water:
- Instant response and direct feedback
- Maximum confidence at speed
- Stability under load and through turns
- True “do-it-all” performance
Best for:
Intermediate to advanced riders who want one mast for everything, from downwind to freestyle to powered winging.

Performance-X
Precision built for maximum efficiency
The Performance-X represents the leading edge of mast design, built for riders chasing efficiency above all else.
With a 12 mm ultra-thin profile and 106 mm chord, it dramatically reduces drag, unlocking higher speeds, longer glide, and a lighter, more agile feel underfoot.
Constructed from ultra-high modulus carbon, the Performance-X pushes what’s possible in carbon layup engineering. Despite its thinner section, it maintains strength, predictability, and stiffness with a 10% increase in both bending and torsional stiffness over the Performance Mk I.
The result is a mast that feels freer and faster, particularly noticeable when carving, pumping, or linking bumps downwind.
Why it matters on the water:
- Reduced drag for maximum efficiency
- Longer glide and smoother energy transfer
- Lighter, looser turning feel
- Increased roll rate and agility
Best for:
Intermediate to Advanced riders prioritising glide, speed, and flow from downwind runs to fast winging and clean carving lines.
Why different mast rake angles?
You might notice that the Performance-X and Performance Mk II have different rake angles across the size range. Shorter masts (725 / 795) and longer masts (865 / 935) are generally used at different speeds, so they need slightly different starting angles.
725 / 795 — 0.5°
- Designed more for lower speed riding
- Less rake keeps the foil more efficient and easier to lift
- Helps with takeoff, pumping, and control at slower speeds
865 / 935 — 1.0°
- Designed for higher speed riding
- More rake adds stability and control when going fast
- Keeps the board feeling balanced and predictable at speed
