Armstrong x Foil Drive Recommended Setups

Foil assist and E-Foiling are unlocking whole new ways to ride. Whether you're chasing bumps or waves on windless days or starting out, these setups will take you to the next level.

Beginners can learn faster with powered assist, and advanced riders can chase more waves or ride spots they normally couldn’t. This is your fast track to quicker progression. But with more options comes more questions: What gear should I be riding? Here's a simple guide to our recommended Armstrong setups for different rider levels and use cases.

Foil Assist - Beginner

For riders learning to fly with a little extra lift and a lot more confidence. This setup gets you riding sooner and keeps you there longer. It’s all about boosting confidence without adding complexity.

Recommended Gear:

  • Integrated Carbon Mast – 185mm Motor Pod
Smooth, balanced, and optimized for easy lift and low drag.

  • MA Mk II 1190–1390 Front Foil
Delivers forgiving lift and flow for learning stability.

  • Flow 235 Stabilizer
Predictable and user-friendly through every phase of the ride.

  • Midlength Board – 75L to 100L
The extra volume helps with balance, takeoff, and recovery.

  • TC60 Fuselage
    All-around performance with rock-solid compatibility.

Foil Assist - Intermediate / Advanced

For riders looking to extend sessions, connect more waves, and push into powerful conditions. This quiver is tuned for flow. The motor only shows up when you want it, giving you the freedom to surf, connect, or recover without drag or disruption.

Recommended Gear:

  • Integrated Carbon Mast – 185mm Motor Pod
Invisible underfoot, effortless when you need it.

  • MA Mk II 790–990 Front Foil
Fast, carvy, and stable at speed. Perfect for power-assisted progression.

Quick roll rate and enhanced maneuverability.

  • Surf Board – 32L to 48L
Compact, agile, and tuned for responsive performance.

  • TC60 Fuselage
Stiff and responsive for control under load.

E-Foil - Beginner

For riders using Foil Drive as their main propulsion, no waves, no problem. Designed for all-day cruising, this setup is the gateway to motor-first foiling. Whether you’re starting out or staying powered up, it’s smooth, safe, and stoke-filled.

Recommended Gear:

  • Integrated Carbon Mast – 650mm Motor Pod
Keeps the motor fully submerged for consistent, full-time power.

Ultra-low stall speed and high lift—ideal for cruising.

  • S1 300 Stabilizer
Maximum pitch stability for smoother learning curves.

  • Wing FG Board – 135L, 150L, or 180L
More volume for easy starts and a stable ride.
